upcoming Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education

Breaches, a continuing education seminar that will
highlight the impact of Massachusetts law 201 CMR
17.00, Standard for the Protection of Private
Information of Residents of the Commonwealth.
As a result of numerous high profile data
breaches, like those of the TJX Companies and
Hannaford Brothers Supermarkets, the Commonwealth
of Massachusetts, through its Office of Consumaer
Affairs and Business Regulation, has enacted the
most stringent data privacy law in the nation,
slated to take effect on March 1, 2010.
Under the guidance of program chair Steven Chow,
Esq. of the Burns and Levenson law firm, the
faculty for this program, which includes
Undersecretary Barbara Anthony, Esq. from the
Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation
along with representatives of the Massachusetts
Attorney General's Office, Corporate Counsel for
Oracle Corporation as well as private practice
Counsels and MJ Shoer, will deliver a
comprehensive review of law, it's implications and
practical impact on businesses large and small.
"I am honored to be asked to serve on the faculty
for this program. It is very important to
provide practical guideance to both those
directlly affected by this law and also to those
who will counsel those who will be affected.
We need to educate people about what the intent
and application of this law are and how to be in
compliance, for the benefit of both the business
community and consumers", said MJ Shoer.
The program will be delivered in Boston at the
MCLE offices on December 10, 2009 and again in
Burlington on January 12, 2010. For more
