iPad 2 Security Vulnerability

If you do not have iPad's in use at your business, you may ignore this message.

A critical vulnerability has been discovered with the iPad 2 Smart Cover.  This ia a semi-magnetic cover that automatically turns the iPad 2 on and off, and/or locks the iPad 2, when the cover is opened and closed.  A simple refrigerator magnet, or similar magnet, may be used to get past the iPad 2 security lock.

If your business has any iPad 2 users that may have business data or company e-mail connectivity on their iPad 2, you are urged to advise them of this issue and have them disable their Smart Cover until Apple is able to resolve this vulnerability.

The turn off this feature of the Smart Cover, perform the following steps on the iPad 2:

1) Go to your home screen.

2) Go to Settings.

3) Go to General.

4) Find the iPad Cover Lock/Unlock setting and set it to OFF.
