Corporate Data Storage: What's on your network?
IT managers constantly deal with space issues on their servers. While adding a hard drive is easy and inexpensive, it may be better to actually see what is taking up all that space. In many cases employees' personal files and mp3 music and video files are the culprit. Not only is this a waste of space, but legal issues can come into play if the content of those files are questionable. If you don't already have one, you should implement a corporate policy regarding file storage. Read the full story here

Innovative Portable Cable- One of the never ending challenges with technology is the myriad of cables one needs to connect all our devices. USB cables, Firewire cables, PDA cables, Cell Phone cables, Printer cables, the list goes on and on. If you travel, it's even worse, as you likely carry a bag for all your cables, to go in your bag with your PC. There really are companies that make bags just to hold your cables. A company called ZipLinq has created a very innovative cable solution. They are small retractable versions of just about any cable you could possibly need. They take up a fraction of the space and all but elimincate cable clutter, whether its in your bag or on your desk. We have been testing them at Jenaly and really like them.

Eliminating the rodent on your desk Yes there is technology out there that will do away with your computer mouse. A company called FingerWorks has developed 2 devices that eliminate the need for a mouse. The iGesture pad senses your hand movements and responds accordingly. You can point, click, scroll and edit with the sweep of your hand or the touch of a few fingers. The Touch Stream keyboard combines the keyboard and sensory pad in one. Both are now available and to find out more go to, http://www.fingerworks.com/

Ready to Sue Spammers?
Congress is trying to put together such a bill that would try and rid the Internet of spam altogether. The bill would include the creation of a "do not spam" list, much like the recent "do not call" registry to limit unwanted telemarketing. In addition to establishing this list, the bill would grant individuals the right to then sue the spammers for as much as $1,000 per spam message!! Can you imagine the extra income that could provide? My hotmail account alone generates an average of 40 spam messages a day, and that is with the spam filter set!

Shocking New Jacket
A new anti-assault device for women wards off potential assailants with an 80,000-volt electric shock. Dubbed "exo-electric armor," the No-Contact Jacket looks like an ordinary fashionable women's coat. But an inner layer of conductive fiber carries a low-amp charge that delivers a nasty, but non-letha,l shock to anyone who messes with its wearer. This is really cool....... I was reading the latest issue of Better Homes and Garden Magazine and came across this little article about windows. The Anderson Window Company is working on several new age windows that change to touch screens where you can control all household appliances, lighting or even download recipes. The screen is embedded into a window. That's not all, they are also developing a window that will go from clear to opaque, transforming it into a projection screen. In the magazine they show a large bay window as the screen with the side windows as speakers. For the full article get the June 2003 issue and read all about it on page 62.
